Nooteboom launches new extendable trailer for carrying wind turbine rotor blades

The SWC-XL carrying a rotor blade

NetherlandsNooteboom BV of Wijchen, Netherlands has launched a new generation of special trailers which are designed to safely transport the very latest wind turbine rotor blades, which can exceed 85 metres in length.

The ‘Super Wing Carrier XL’ is the longest trailer Nooteboom has produced in the ‘Super Wing Carrier’ series. The trailer is essentially a gooseneck type with a 2-axle jeep dolly at the front and an 8-axle platform at the rear. The loading floor between the front and rear of the gooseneck trailer can be extended in stages to over 75 metres in length, allowing the operator to transport rotor blades of varying lengths.
