Italy / Turkey – Last year, Italian commercial vehicle manufacturer, the Iveco Group based in Turin, and Ford Otomotiv Sanayi A.Ş. (Ford Otosan) of Istanbul, Turkey  signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to explore the potential co-development of heavy-duty vehicle cabins. Both parties are now going through with this plan, having entered into a binding Joint Development Agreement (JDA) committing a combined EUR 343 million to this development. Under this agreement, both companies will independently manufacture and assemble the cabins in their respective facilities. The intellectual property rights for the newly developed cabins will be equally shared between Ford Otosan and Iveco. This JDA aims to combine resources to improve on the existing cab designs in terms of aerodynamics, comfort and safety. Production of the first cabins is anticipated to commence by 2028.
