Blue Bird debuts propane-powered stripped chassis at World Truck Week

USA – American school bus manufacturer Blue Bird Corp (NASDAQ ticker: BLBD), based in Macon, Georgia, has debuted a propane-powered Class 5-6 stripped chassis at Work Truck Week 2025 (March 4 – 7) held at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. At the event, the company announced that it plans to commence commercial availability of the propane-powered stripped chassis in the second quarter of 2026.
Designed for medium and long-distance delivery vehicles, the chassis features a 208-inch wheelbase with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of up to 23,000 pounds (10.4 tonnes). The company claims that the chassis incorporates lightweight materials to enhance fuel efficiency and payload capacity while maintaining safety standards. Developed in collaboration with Ford Component Sales and ROUSH CleanTech, the chassis is powered by Ford's 7.3L V8 engine, delivering 335 horsepower and integrated into a low-emission powertrain by ROUSH CleanTech.
