Germany – At the Bauma exhibition, held between 7-13 April in Munich, Bavaria, Volvo Trucks Corporation of Gothenburg, Sweden and Putzmeister Holding GmbH of Aichtal, Baden-Württemberg showcased a concrete pump truck powered entirely by a battery electric driveline.

The truck in question was a Volvo ‘FM Electric’ 8x4 rigid with a tag tridem configuration, mounted with an ‘eBSF’ concrete pump, with a reach of 42 metres, installed by Putzmeister. The truck-pump combination weighed a total of 32 tonnes. Powered by two electric motors (330 kW) and four battery packs (total capacity of 360 kWh), the truck can travel up to 50 kilometres and then pump approximately 50 cubic metres of concrete before needing to recharge. The truck can be plugged in to a standard combined charging system (CCS) charger and continue pumping concrete while recharging.
