Volvo North America to lay off up to 800 workers at three U.S. plants

USAVolvo Group North America Inc of Greensboro, North Carolina will lay off up to eight hundred workers in the USA over the next three months due to market uncertainty, according to a Reuters report.

Three American facilities will be affected by the job cuts. These include: the New River Valley plant in Dublin, Virginia, where Volvo produces trucks for the North American market; the Hagerstown plant in Maryland, where Volvo manufactures engines, transmissions, and axles for its North American brands; and the Lehigh Valley Operations in Macungie, Pennsylvania, where subsidiary Mack Trucks builds its Class 8 trucks.
