Mack Trucks now offering CNG Granite with lighter-weight, low-cost Allison 3000 Series

CNG Granite from Mack Trucks

USA – Earlier in May, Mack Trucks Inc, a subsidiary of Volvo based in Greensboro, North Carolina, announced a new powertrain option for its natural gas-powered ‘Granite’ range of dump trucks which it describes as lighter and less expensive.

The Granite model with the Cummins ‘L9N’ compressed natural gas engine is now being offered with the Allison ‘3000 Series’ transmission, offering 320 horsepower and 1,000 lb-ft of torque when paired together. Mack calls the Allison 3000 a “lighter-weight, low-cost option” compared to the Allison ‘4500 RDS transmission”, the other option for the CNG-fuelled Granite.
