Volvo launches production of electric artic and bi-artic chassis in Brazil

The BZRT chassis from Volvo

Sweden / Brazil – In May, Volvo Bus Corporation of Gothenburg, Sweden announced the production launch of its first electric bi-articulated chassis, manufactured in Brazil and shipped to customers around the world.

Based on the ‘BZR Electric’ platform launched last year, the ‘BZRT’ chassis can measure up to 28 metres in length, allowing for bus models that can carry up to 250 passengers. It is powered by two 200-kW motors and eight batteries which store up to 720 kilowatt hours of energy. The batteries are installed under the floor, allowing for a low-floor design throughout the interior.
