Canada / USA – After defaulting on its debt last year and obtaining creditor protection under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA) in Canada, Canadian electric vehicle manufacturer, The Lion Electric Co, based in Saint-Jérôme, Quebec, received a surprise bid to take over the company which may rescue it from liquidation. An investment group, led by Canadian real-estate tycoon Vincent Chiara, submitted this bid. This comes after the Board has been actively seeking capital in order to restructure the business. The original crisis stemmed from cash flow issues and poor financial performance in 2024.
