Volvo starts electric truck production in Australia

Volvo trucks in Linfox livery

AustraliaVolvo Group Australia announced in May the start of electric truck production at its facility in Wacol, Queensland, which coincided with a 30-unit order from logistics firm Linfox Pty Ltd of Melbourne.

Volvo states that, although it has kickstarted production of battery electric trucks in Australia, only “some” of the trucks destined for Linfox will be locally assembled. (The remainder will presumably be imported from Europe.) The order comprises 29 ‘FH Electric’ and 1 ‘FM Electric’ and is the largest electric truck contract in Australia to date, according to Volvo.
