Sweden / GermanyDaimler Truck AG and AB Volvo have announced the establishment of their 50/50 joint venture, Coretura AB, for the development of software-defined trucks by the end of the decade.

Based in Gothenburg, Sweden, Coretura is led by Johan Lundén, who previously served as senior vice president for strategic product planning and innovation at Volvo. The joint venture’s primary objective will be to build the “non-differentiating core” of the software-defined truck: a standardised digital platform and dedicated commercial vehicle operating system which will be open to Daimler and Volvo’s competitors.
