SwedenScania AB, a subsidiary of Traton based in Södertälje, Sweden, has announced that, from early next year, it will offer battery electric trucks compatible with megawatt charging, halving the time needed to recharge the batteries.

In 2026, new Scania electric trucks will be equipped with the new “megawatt charging system” standard, which is specified for a maximum current of 3,000 amperes. When hooked up to a charger rated at 750 kilowatts, Scania claims that its megawatt-standard trucks will recharge up to two times faster than with the current combined charging system (CCS2) standard.
