BYD uses UITP to launch a new low-floor intercity e-bus with a whopping 700km range!

B13.b

Germany – BYD Europe BV of Schiedam, Netherlands, the European subsidiary of Shenzhen, China-based BYD Auto Co Ltd, used the 2025 UITP Global Public Transport Summit in Hamburg (June 15 – 18) to launch the latest iteration of its electric intercity bus, the B13.b. The 13.2-metre low-entry bus builds on the previous B13 model and is purpose-designed for intercity and regional operations in the European market. While BYD did not disclose a definitive timeline for series production or announce any major fleet contracts, the company confirmed that the B13.b will be built at its European bus manufacturing facility in Komárom, Hungary, with production expected to commence later this year.

The highlight of the new B13.b is its impressive 700 km range, made possible by a high-capacity 560 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery integrated into BYD’s advanced Blade Battery Chassis. This cell-to-chassis design allows the Blade Batteries to serve as a structural component of the frame, reducing vehicle weight. The result is more interior space, improved structural efficiency, and increased passenger capacity, with up to 78 passengers, including 49 seated.
