USAXos Inc, a manufacturer of electric step vans based in Los Angeles, California, has announced a partnership with software company Leapfrog Power Inc of San Francisco to connect Xos’ charging solutions to the grid to provide balancing support in times of high demand and/or low energy supply.

Leapfrog’s ‘Leap’-branded digital platform allows customers to turn their fleets into so-called ‘virtual power plants’ which can discharge stored energy back into the grid and generate revenue. Xos says that customers using its mobile charging product, ‘Xos Hub’,1 will automatically shift charging from the grid to their Xos Hub chargers, relieving grid strain and making money.
