Mercedes to deliver nearly 5,000 electric vans to Amazon delivery service partners

GermanyMercedes-Benz Group AG of Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg has announced that it will deliver just under 5,000 battery electric vans over the next several months to Amazon “delivery service partners” across five European countries, the bulk of which will go to couriers in Germany.

Mercedes will deliver nearly 5,000 panel vans for parcel delivery over the coming months, of which roughly three-quarters will be large-size ‘eSprinter’ models. The eSprinters will each be upfitted with custom-made shelves and a partition wall with a sliding door between the cargo space and the cab. The vans will have a loading volume of up to 14 cubic metres and a permissible gross weight of 4.25 tonnes.
