Turkey – Four years ago, Kerem Erman joined Turkish manufacturer Otokar as assistant general manager for commercial. Since then, the company’s revenues have increased “threefold”, Erman said during a recent conversation with Truck & Bus Builder.

Now Business Leader Commercial Vehicles, Erman told T&BB that Otokar’s growth is the result of considerable success in the European market, in France, Spain, Belgium, and especially in Italy, where its small-sized city buses are particularly well-suited for the narrow streets and steep, winding roads. In Erman’s view, Europe’s transition to electric buses has created an opportunity for Otokar to compete with the established players, and the company will keep the momentum going by expanding into new markets such as Germany and Scandinavia.
