Germany – The Mercedes-Benz Group AG*, an automotive corporation based in Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg has launched the CB400 reworked high-voltage battery, a new offering developed at the company’s Kompetenzzentrum für emissionsfreie Mobilität (KEM) in Mannheim. The CB400 is designed for use in the first-generation Mercedes-Benz eActros 300/400 and eEconic trucks, providing fleet operators with a resource-efficient and economical alternative to new replacement batteries. In addition to price benefits, the reworked battery reduces CO2 emissions by around one-third compared with manufacturing a new battery

According to the company, “reworked from used batteries collected from customer vehicles, each CB400 undergoes rigorous inspection, module replacement, leak testing, and software updates to meet full series standards”. The result is a product that delivers “like-new” performance, carries the same parts warranty as a new unit, and comes at a significantly lower cost.
