Volvo receives first order for artic and bi-artic electric buses

Sweden / BrazilVolvo Bus Corporation of Gothenburg, Sweden has announced its first order for the ‘BZRT’ articulated and bi-articulated electric buses launched in June, which will serve on a bus rapid transit route in the Brazilian city of Goiânia.

Twenty-one BZRT buses have been ordered in total, of which sixteen are articulated models and five are bi-articulated. The artic can carry up to 180 passengers, while the bi-artic, measuring 28 metres in length, can carry as many as 250. Production of the BZRT chassis was launched in Volvo’s Curitiba facility in June, with deliveries beginning this year.
