Torc partners with Edge Case to assess autonomous truck safety ahead of commercial launch

Freightliner Cascadia installed with Torc autonomous driving technology

USATorc Robotics Inc, a subsidiary of Daimler Truck based in Blacksburg, Virginia, has engaged Edge Case Research Inc to provide independent safety assessments for its autonomous technology, in readiness for the planned commercial deployment of self-driving trucks in 2027.

Edge Case will carry out assessments of Torc’s safety case evidence which it compiled over the course of in-house testing of its ‘Virtual Driver’ software. These will be conducted independently and will involve the production of detailed reports and collaborative reviews with Torc engineers.
