China / Switzerland – Chinese electronics and energy systems supplier, Dongguan Mentech Optical & Magnetic Co. Ltd. has acquired a majority stake in Shanghai-based ChargeDot New Energy Technology Co., previously controlled by ABB E-mobility through ABB Ltd of Zürich. The deal, announced in August 2025, will see ABB retain a 40% minority interest while transferring operational leadership to Mentech. Further financial details have not been disclosed.

ChargeDot is best known for its AC charging solutions, widely used across passenger car and fleet applications in China. With Mentech taking control, the company is expected to gain stronger manufacturing scale, while ABB will sharpen its focus on high-power DC fast charging technologies. ABB confirmed it will continue distributing ChargeDot’s AC products globally, ensuring that customers outside China, including bus and truck operators, retain access to the portfolio.
