USA – Cummins Inc of Columbus, Indiana has announced a new engine brake which it claims will provide the performance typical of a 13-litre engine in its new 10-litre diesel, the ‘X10’.
The company’s new ‘High Power Density’ engine brake was developed by the valvetrain technologies division (formerly Jacobs Vehicle Systems) for the HELM range of fuel-agnostic engines, with the X10 being the first-to-market application. It is a 1.5-stroke brake with two performance ratings at 2,300 revolutions per minute: up to 320 horsepower in a three-cylinder engine and up to 475 horsepower in a six-cylinder one.
