Belgium / Germany – At Busworld Europe 2025 (October 4–9, Brussels), The Eberspächer Group, headquartered in Esslingen am Neckar, used the platform to spotlight its latest thermal management solutions for buses, notably versions of its AC138 EVO and AC135 rooftop HVAC systems adapted for natural refrigerants. The firm presented features such as over-the-air updates, intelligent control (E-Control), and a “Hydro Control System” for centralised thermal management.
Eberspächer confirmed that series production of the AC138 EVO is already underway (from mid-2025) for city-bus passenger compartments. The AC138 EVO currently uses CO₂ (R744) as a natural refrigerant*. However, recognising that CO₂ performance drops in high ambient temperatures, from 2026, the AC138 EVO will also become compatible with propane (R290) to maintain stable cooling and heating outputs even under hotter conditions. The AC135 family, with cooling capacities from about 25 to 50 kW (suitable for midibuses, intercity, coaches and electric buses), is likewise being expanded and will also be offered in propane versions from 2026.
