Belgium / Spain – Spanish electric bus manufacturer Irizar eMobility, based in Aduna, Gipuzkoa (and part of the Irizar Group of Ormaiztegi, Spain), used Busworld Europe 2025 in Brussels (October 4 – 9) to unveil two new fully electric models as part of its next-generation “Efficient” platform. These were the updated Irizar ie bus (new generation) for urban routes and the brand-new Irizar i3 Normal Floor Class II intercity bus. T&BB sat down with Imanol Rego, CEO of Irizar, at Busworld to get a better sense of his strategy going into 2026.

He told T&BB that the new ie bus retains its role as Irizar’s flagship low-floor city bus but now features a redesigned lightweight structure that reduces weight by around 1,000 kg, increases passenger capacity by up to 5%, and cuts energy consumption by approximately 10% compared to the previous version. It will continue to be offered in typical city lengths (10.8 m, 12 m and articulated options).
