France – The Michelin Group of Clermont-Ferrand, France has launched a new generation of ‘X Multi’ 19.5-inch tyres for use in regional and urban goods transportation, featuring improvements to robustness, braking performance, and rolling resistance.
The ‘X Multi Z2’ and ‘X Multi D2’ tyres – for steer and drive axles respectively – are the successors to the ‘X Multi Z/D’ range that were launched eight years ago. Michelin claims that the tyres will offer up to 30% more mileage on the steer axle and 15% more on the drive axle, thanks to their enhanced robustness compared to the previous generation. They feature three patented technologies: ‘Duracoil’, or nylon reinforcement on the bead wire of the tyre; ‘Powercoil’, or more durable steel cables; and ‘Regenion’, or tread sculptures made by 3D metal printing to improve grip and tread longevity.
