Daimler Trucks delivers one of its best years ever

Germany – Daimler Trucks of Stuttgart, the truck division of Daimler AG, says its global truck sales (which includes the Mercedes-Benz, Fuso, Freightliner, Western Star, Thomas Built Buses and BharatBenz brands) in 2018 will exceed half a million units compared with 470,000 units in 2017.  Year to November 2018 (YTNov18) saw sales total 466,900 units compared with 422,500 in the same period of 2017).

While most of Daimler Trucks’ largest sales markets developed positively in 2018, its highest growth was achieved in the NAFTA region, where sales of the Freightliner, Western Star and Thomas Built Buses brands increased by 15% to 172,700 units (YTNov18) verses 150,600 giving it a market share of 38.3% in the medium- and heavy-duty truck weight Classes 6 to 8.  The Freightliner New Cascadia played a key role with more than 76,500 units of this model having been sold since the start of production in late 2016.
