Germany – Werlte-based Fahrzeugwerk Bernard Krone GmbH & Co KG is doubling its production capacity for swap bodies and Dry Liners (dry freight bodies) at its production plant in Herzlake. The move, says Krone, reflects positive market demand for interchangeable systems and Krone anticipates ramping up production gradually to 25,000 units annually over the next 18 months.

Bernhard Brüggen, managing director of the Herzlake facility, said: "We have already laid the foundation for this production offensive with the introduction of automatic component production in Herzlake. Our swap body systems and Dry Liners stand for high product quality combined with numerous innovative load securing solutions and are therefore in high demand on the market, evidenced by our market share of around 70% for swap bodies. A significant increase in demand has been generated by the booming online trade."
