Mann+Hummel introduces roadside filtration technology to reduce NO2 pollution levels

Germany - Ludwigsburg-based filtration specialist, MANN+HUMMEL GmbH has revealed technology which reduces nitrogen dioxide (NO2) at locations in cities where there are high levels of such pollutants.

At the end of last year Mann+Hummel’s ‘Filter Cubes’ were successfully installed in Stuttgart at a busy road junction in the district of Neckartor to reduce the level of fine dust pollution. Further development by Mann+Hummel has resulted in a new technology being introduced, which can now be integrated into a new combi-filter medium. The medium retains fine dust particles but also filters NO2 out of the air. Use of this system could potentially protect public health and make driving bans of fossil fuel vehicles in inner city areas unnecessary. The Filter Cubes at the Neckartor road junction were adapted to include the new technology and are to be in operation from this summer. Before the end 2019, the further developed filters are to be used in another pilot project in Ludwigsburg.
