Germany - At Battery Show Europe 2019, Akasol AG presented a wide portfolio of new options for battery cells. Its flagship product, the new High Energy Battery AKASystem AKM CYC, has entered series development for the battery module and system. The AKAModule CYC is claimed to achieve market leading energy density of 221Wh/kg with liquid cooled battery modules, which are scalable and can be integrated in various system designs at the pack level.

With high energy capacity for long range applications, AKASOL aims to set a new benchmark in terms of energy content – allowing fully-electric city buses to be equipped with battery system capacities between 600-1,000kWh, depending on the vehicle size. The new AKASystem AKM CYC can be fast charged up to 1C, which AKASOL says is more than enough for today’s fast chargers for commercial vehicles, limited to a maximum power of 500kW.
