Japan - Sales rise in Q1 on strong GDP growth in Japan

Japan - The commercial vehicle market over 2 tons gvw in Japan expanded by 5.1% to 130,778 units in the first quarter of 2019 from weak year-earlier sales of 124,448 units, based on data released by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA).

The country’s economy expanded by 2.1% year-on-year in the first quarter and by 0.5% quarter-on-quarter according to preliminary data released by the government. This was much stronger than had been widely expected and up from the 1.6% year-on-year growth seen in the fourth quarter of 2018.
