ZF to launch PowerLine transmission in North America

ZF Friedrichshafen AG is aiming to introduce its PowerLine 8-speed automatic transmission for medium-duty trucks, heavy pickup trucks and buses into the North American market. ZF claims short shifting times between eight-gear steps guarantee a high degree of dynamics.
The innovative gearset concept of the converter transmission with high taotal spread enables extra low engine speed and enables significant reductions – up to 10%, in fuel consumption. With Dual-Life-PTOs the transmission can be optimally adapted on different applications. The unit is not yet in production as ZF is waiting on its first customer for the unit.
