Daimler outlines plans for eCitaro

Germany - The eCitaro electric city bus is now operating in several cities across Europe, Till Oberwörder, head of Daimler Buses said at Busworld Europe in Brussels, last month, and confirmed three-digit orders would be fulfilled before the end of 2019.

Later this year the eCitaro will also be available with rapid charging via a pantograph system, he stated. An articulated eCitaro G, with capacity for 145 passengers is to be introduced in 2020 and a further option of including a hydrogen fuel cell as a range extender is to be introduced in 2022. The launch of next generation batteries is scheduled for the second half of 2020 with the introduction of solid-state batteries (lithium polymer).
