Germany – From the start of next year's IAA Commercial Vehicle Event in Hanover, Daimler E Mobility Trucks & Buses, a division of Daimler AG of Stuttgart, Germany, is to offer a free eTruck Ready App enabling customers to determine which operating profiles and routes are suitable for an electric truck (e-truck). The smartphone app records the driving routes of a conventional vehicle by capturing key operating data such as speed, acceleration and altitude profile along the route. Other important parameters such as payload and outside temperature can be added afterwards by fleet managers in an individual web portal. From this data, the programme calculates the respective minimum range and expected power consumption of a suitable electric truck from the Daimler portfolio.

The data calculated by the app forms the basic information for the customer and Daimler’s e-truck consulting team from the E-Mobility Group. The tailored consulting services by the e-mobility team would include route optimisation for the electric trucks as well as options for the most suitable charging infrastructure. Where applicable other factors can be considered such as individual operating cost analysis and public and private funding opportunities.
