First two MAN Lion's City E buses go into service in Hamburg

Germany – December saw MAN Truck & Bus SE of Munich hand over the first two Lion’s City E buses to Hamburger Hochbahn AG and Verkehrsbetriebe Hamburg-Holstein GmbH (VHH). They are now operating daily services.

Both MAN Lion’s City E zero emission vehicles are 12m variants and offer space for up to 88 passengers. The central motor is located on the rear axle. In single deck form the all-electric driveline produces 160kW up to a maximum of 240kW. The modular batteries provide 480kWh of installed capacity and feature sophisticated temperature management systems to ensures they are readily available, regardless of the season. Lion’s City E is claimed to reliably achieve a range of 200km, and even up to 270km in favourable conditions.
