Germany - Starting in the third quarter of 2020, ZF’s CeTrax electric central drive for public transport will go into volume production. The drive, which is to be manufactured at the ZF Group's headquarter facilities in Friedrichshafen, will be the second electric drive for public transport to enter series production. (Since 2012, ZF's AxTrax AVE portal electric drive axle for buses in public transport has been in production in Passau, which is now supplied regularly to many OEMs worldwide).

CeTrax, which was presented to the public for the first time in a ZF test vehicle in 2017, has been developed to be installed easily in vehicles with a conventional drive-line layout. Its design, like ZF's other electric drives, also allows it to be powered by different energy sources such as battery, supercapacitors, trolley system and hydrogen fuel cell systems.
