Daimler Buses appoints THACO as assembly, manufacturing and distribution and sales partner in Vietnam

Germany / Vietnam / Brazil - Daimler Buses, a division of Daimler Trucks AG of Stuttgart, Germany, as part of its previously announced strategic goal of expanding sales in South East Asia, has appointed local automobile manufacturer and dealer, Truong Hai Auto Corporation (THACO) of Ho Cho Min City as its general distributor for Daimler Buses in Vietnam.

The collaboration agreement between THACO and Daimler Buses, which was signed days prior to the initiation of the agreement on June 1, 2020, provides for the supply of buses that have been specially adapted to suit local conditions in Vietnam. These buses are to use chassis supplied from the São Bernardo do Campo plant belonging to Mercedes-Benz do Brasil Ltda in Brazil. The Brazilian Mercedes-Benz plant will supply Vietnam with components kits for chassis from the second half of 2020. The CKD chassis ware to be equipped with the Mercedes-Benz OM 457 engine in power outputs of 260kW and 315kW.
