Akasol expands USA battery production capacity

Germany / USA – Akasol AG of Darmstadst, Germany, a developer and manufacturer of high-performance and high-energy lithium-ion battery systems, and supplier of turnkey solutions, is again expanding its US production capacity in Hazel Park city Michigan from 400MWh to around 2GWh.
The move, Alkasol states, is in response to long-term supply contracts with a global commercial vehicle manufacturer, which will outfit its US brand of varying vehicle types with Akasol's new high-energy battery systems from 2021. (In 2018, Akasol announced it was to supply lithium-ion battery systems for Daimler bus and coach sales subsidiary. EvoBus GmbH, which sells Mercedes-Benz Buses and Setra Buses in Europe. Whilst there is no mention of the OEM here it is likely to be Daimler, which owns several commercial vehicle brands in North America).
