Germany - MAN Truck & Bus SE of Munich (a Traton Group company), Friedrich-Alexander Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) of Erlangen, and Nuremberg Tech (THN) of Nuremberg have signed a co-operation agreement on the research and development of hydrogen-based vehicle drive systems. The move creates what is called a Hydrogen Campus with university academics and students running a laboratory and test rigs for researching hydrogen technology jointly at MAN’s diesel engine plant in Nuremberg.

With this new Hydrogen Campus, MAN believes it is laying the foundation for a successful transformation towards alternative drives. Hydrogen infrastructure is already available at the engine plant, explained MAN, facilitating hands-on and applied research and development. The mutual transfer of expertise could speed up the research into hydrogen drives considerably, MAN added.
