USA / Hungary - An investment of USD30m is being spent on a new wheel manufacturing plant in Hungary to build Alcoa-branded Ultra One wheels by Howmet Aerospace Inc* of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the parent company of the aluminium wheel manufacturer. Last month, Istvan Katus, Vice President of Howmet Wheel Systems announced it had broken ground at its Howmet-Köfém Kft in Székesfehérvár, Hungary. The new facility will expand Howmet’s capacity to produce forged aluminium Alcoa Wheels to capture growth in key markets globally.

This greenfield expansion increases Howmet’s footprint in Székesfehérvár with production expected to begin at the end of 2021. Howmet’s wheels business entered the commercial transportation market in Europe almost 25 years ago with just 32 employees and has grown to more than 600 today in Hungary. The new facility is expected to bring almost 90 new jobs to the region.
