ZF partners with Zenzic to accelerate the UK's connected and self-driving vehicle ecosystem

Germany / UK – The ZF Group of Friedrichshafen, Germany has joined forces with Zenzic UK Ltd1 of London and its partners to help speed up delivery of Connected Automated Mobility (CAM) technology for the effective and efficient movement of people and goods. Zenzic was created by government and industry to accelerate the self-driving revolution in the UK. Zenzic is channelling GBP200m of investment to unite industry, government and academia in the move to a safer, more inclusive and productive mobile future. Zenzic was tasked with developing Britain’s CAM Roadmap since 2017.

ZF is now a key partner because it supplies more than a dozen key vehicle manufacturers globally with advanced ADAS (Advanced driver-assistance systems) sensor technologies including front-facing cameras and both mid- and full-range radar. It is also producing solid-state LiDAR equipment production of which was scheduled to start last month (October). ZF says all its technologies are manufactured to automotive grade: designed and tested according to rigorous automotive and customer requirements.

A key focus for Zenzic is to encourage development CAM technology through collaboration and partnerships and to promote the of a world-class testing and development ecosystem for connected and autonomous vehicle technologies.

Peter Lakie, ZF’s SVP Sales, commenting on its collaboration with Zenzic and its partners, said:  “The opportunity to collaborate across the many sectors represented by the roadmap has great synergy with the ethos of ZF. The company believes partnerships and collaboration fuel results. The CAM testbed UK operates a real-life test infrastructure that runs across the UK and ZF’s location here (Shirley), places it centrally to all UK testbed facilities,” continued Lakie.
