Irizar partners with Scania to add CNG and LNG models to coach range

Spain – Spain’s largest coachbuilder, Irizar Group of Ormaiztegi is expanding its coach range with gas-powered options using chassis from Scania AB of Sodertalje, Sweden. It plans to offer coaches fitted with both compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) solutions. Coaches fitted with CNG fuel tanks offer a range of up to 500km, Irizar states, whereas coaches fitted with the LNG technology offer a range of twice that of up to 1,000km.

Models fitted with CNG fuel tanks are include the Irizar i4 and Irizar i3le models from 12 to 15 metres in length. The Irizar i4, Irizar i6 and Irizar i6S from 12 to 15 metres are to be offered in the LNG version. The first vehicle equipped with this technology is the Irizar i4 class II model suited to metropolitan, commuter, school transport or business coach operation. This is an Irizar i4 version H, 12.920m long vehicle on a Scania K320 EB 4X2 E6D CNG chassis.
