GermanyMercedes-Benz Truck GmbH of Stuttgart, a Daimler Truck AG company, plans to bring to market, Active Sideguard Assist (ASGA) in its heavy-duty truck range, starting in June 2021.

Mercedes-Benz Truck says it plans to offer the ASGA system as an option in its heavy-duty Actros and AROCS truck models from that date. Unlike the current system, Sideguard Assist (S1R), the ASGA system not only warns the driver when cyclists or pedestrians are within close-proximity of the co-driver’s side, it actively and independently brakes the vehicle to prevent a collision or accident. Mercedes-Benz Truck states the ASGA system operates at speeds of up to 20km/h.
