Japan / USA - Isuzu Motors Ltd, headquartered in Tokyo’s Shinagawa district, and US engine and e-powertrain manufacturer, Cummins Inc of Columbus, Indiana, in February announced agreements to collaborate on a mid-range diesel powertrain and to work together on other advanced engineering projects. (This coincides with a similar mid-range engine global supply and development agreement between Cummins and Germany’s Daimler Trucks AG. It also comes after the recent announcement by Volvo that it is to sell its interesting in Nissan Diesel to Isuzu Motors).

The Japanese truck maker said the new agreements would deepen the existing Isuzu Cummins Powertrain Partnership (ICPP), which was originally formed in May 2019 to provide a formal business structure through which the two companies could “evaluate and carry out opportunities to jointly develop and bring new diesel and alternate powertrains to global markets”.
