Goodyear signs agreement to acquire Cooper Tire & Rubber for USD2.5bn

USA - The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company of Akron, Ohio has agreed terms to buy Cooper Tire & Rubber Company of Findlay, Ohio for approximately USD2.5bn.

Goodyear said the transaction would expand its product offering by combining two portfolios of complementary brands, create a stronger US manufacturing base, generate an increased presence in distribution and retail channels and combine both companies’ strengths in the highly profitable light truck and SUV product segments. The combined company will have approximately USD17.5bn in pro forma 2019 sales.
