Madrid orders 250 Solaris CNG buses

Poland / Spain - Solaris Bus & Coach of Bolechowo has won a tender bid to supply 250 Solaris Urbino 12 CNG buses to Madrid. Deliveries to transport operator, EMT, are due to begin by the end of the year and will be completed in 2023.

This is the first contract won by Solaris in the Spanish capital. Empresa Municipal de Transportes de Madrid (EMT) is the largest public transport operator in Spain and the second biggest in Europe. The operator plans to have solely electric, hybrid and CNG buses on the streets of Madrid by 2023 and issued a tender for 520 12-metre CNG-fuelled vehicles to replace diesel buses.
