Lightning eMotors and Leader to build e-ambulances

USA – Electric commercial vehicle manufacturer, Lightning eMotors of Palo Alto, California, and specialist vehicle, REV Group Inc of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, are to co-develop zero-emission, all-electric ambulances with Leader Emergency Vehicles of South El Monte, California - a REV Group subsidiary. Available to government agencies, municipalities, commercial operators, hospitals, and non-profit organisations, delivery to customers is expected to begin at the end of this calendar year.

The new Leader ambulances will be based on the fourth-generation Lightning Electric Transit Van. Leader’s High Roof Ford Transit van offers up to 105kWh of battery capacity which can be charged via Level 2 AC charging or DC fast charging. This model is equipped with dual rear wheels providing a 10,360 lbs. gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR).
