Germany – The executive boards of Stuttgart-based multi-national automotive corporation, Daimler AG, has given the go-ahead to the planned spin-off of its Daimler Truck division into a new company. It is to be called Daimler Truck Holding AG, with a separate stock listing on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

The intention is to make Daimler Truck into a ‘pure play’ company, that is to say a company focused solely on the commercial vehicle industry, thus separating it from Daimler AG’s investment in other vehicle industries. Daimler Truck Holding AG will comprise the Daimler Truck and Daimler Bus brands, along with other owned brands.1 The truck and bus divisions currently employ 100,000 people at more than 35 main sites.
