Irizar reaches agreement with Iberdrola to electrify urban transport

Spain – Irizar Group, a manufacturer of high-end buses and coaches based in the Basque Country, announced that it will be working together with Spanish electric utility company, Iberdrola to electrify Irizar’s bus fleets and to set up a recharging infrastructure across the country. 

The two-year agreement between the two companies involves collaboration on urban bus fleet electrification projects, demonstration projects, and R&D programmes for developing new technologies to accelerate their electrification aims. Iberdrola will be investing EUR150m in rolling out a recharging infrastructure, with plans to install up to 150,000 charge points along Spain’s roads.
