Proterra and LG Energy Solution enter supply agreement for battery cells

USA / South KoreaLG Energy Solution, the Seoul-based subsidiary of South Korean conglomerate, LG Corporation, has agreed to supply Proterra Inc, a manufacturer of charging systems and electric transit buses based in Burlingame, California, with a new kind of battery cell designed for electrified commercial vehicles. 

This agreement, which continues from an earlier supply partnership, will provide Proterra with a stable supply of cells for its battery packs through to 2028, amounting to multiple gigawatt hours of battery cell capacity on an annual basis and thus significantly increasing its potential manufacturing output. In return, Proterra has committed an undisclosed nine-figure sum upfront as part of the agreement.
