Goodyear opts to power European plants with renewable energy

USA – The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company of Akron, Ohio, has announced that it will adopt 100% renewable energy at most of its plants across Europe and Turkey. This is the first stage of the company’s multi-phase plan to use exclusively renewable energy across all its facilities across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa by the end of 2022.

By purchasing around 700,000 mWh of renewable electricity, Goodyear can ensure that its manufacturing plants in France, Germany, Luxembourg, Poland, Slovenia, Turkey and the Netherlands will operate solely sustainable power. The company estimates that this will reduce its carbon footprint by as much as 260,000 tonnes.
