USAPACCAR Inc, the Bellevue, Washington-based truck manufacturer and owner of Peterbilt and Kenworth brands in the USA, are piloting autonomous trucks in line haul operations between Dallas and Texas for FedEx Corporation, employing technology developed by Aurora Innovation Inc, a software company based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Mountain View, California.

PACCAR trucks installed with ‘Aurora Driver’ technology will carry FedEx goods between Dallas and Houston along the I-45 corridor, a 500-mile round trip. The trucks are to be supervised by a backup driver in case of accident.
