Quantron presents light-duty commercial vehicle powered by hydrogen at NUFAM

The Q-Light FCEV

GermanyQuantron AG of Gersthofen, Bavaria, presented its light-duty fuel-cell electric commercial vehicle for the first time at NUFAM trade fair in Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg, which ran from 30 September to 3 October.

The Q-Light FCEV weighs in the 3.5 to 4.5 tonne range, the first such light-duty hydrogen vehicle on the market in Europe, the company claims. The vehicle is based on chassis platforms manufactured by Iveco and Mercedes-Benz. In place of the diesel drivetrain, Quantron has installed a powertrain which it developed in collaboration with AE Driven Solutions GmbH, a supplier of fuel cell systems based in Aachen, North Rhine-Westphalia. The Q-Light is a modular and flexible platform: it can be fitted with a range of bodies for various applications as a passenger van, cargo van, panel van, and flatbed van; depending on its purpose, up to four hydrogen tanks can be fitted to extend the range up to 500 km.
